Cairneyhill Community Sports Hub has a number of responsibilities and obligations to adhere to in relation to the day to day operating of the sports area also known as the Multi-Use Games Area, (MUGA).
The charity aims to be a responsible member of the Cairneyhill Community and takes its obligations to the residents and neighbours seriously to ensure the facility is both accessible and is used sensibly by all.
The charity will have to cover not only ongoing costs for the daily operation of the facility but also ensure that monies are being raised for future activities such as the repairing/replacing of any part of the infrastructure/equipment/surface, etc.
Sports Available
The carpet fitted is classed as 2G which allows more sports to be played.
Football - There are two 5-a-side football pitches across the sports area and a 7-a-side pitch that runs full length. All football goals can be folded back to the walls and all pitches have a run-off so corners and thrown-ins are possible. As the surface is 2G then it is not recommended for competitive games under the eyes of the SFA e.g. slide tackling is not allowed however it is suitable for training and the rules and approach for futsal should be adopted for younger children. It is suitable for 'recreational' football whereby slide tackling is not allowed but games can still be competitive.
Basketball - There is a basketball court marked out on the 5-a-side pitch farthest from the school. (We hope to replace the nets with steel nets in the near future for longevity.).
Tennis - 2 tennis courts have been marked out. We are in the process of confirming funding to be able to sort out movable nets as well as storage next to the sports area. We hope that this will be in place for the start of spring 2023.
Other sports/activities - now that we have the facility in place we aim to grow other sports and activities over the coming months and years. if you are interested in starting up a group or believe the area is perfect for your group's activities then please contact us.
